Larry Allen


Larry Allen is Organist and Director of Music at Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church. From 1974-2004, he served as Director of Music at Immanuel Congregational Church in Hartford, Connecticut. During his tenure at Immanuel Church, he founded the Woodland Concert Series and created The Woodland Scholars, an 18-voice professional choral chamber ensemble. In 1995, he was named Connecticut Choral Conductor of the Year by the American Choral Directors Association. Mr. Allen received his Master of Sacred Music Degree from The School of Sacred Music at Union Theological Seminary and did further study in France at the Conservatoire de Rueil-Malmaison. He has concertized in the United States and Europe and toured as soloist with The Empire Brass Quintet in this country and abroad. He has been a Concerto Soloist and accompanist for Sir David Willcocks, John Rutter, Dale Warland and Robert Shaw, and has been heard with Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano Sandra Walker, and Pittsburgh Symphony oboist Scott Bell. Larry is a past Dean of the Pittsburgh Chapter of The American Guild of Organists, and the coordinator of the Regional Convention of the AGO, to be held in Pittsburgh in 2015.
