Dr. Shankovich (D.A., Music Theory, Carnegie Mellon University, 1980 ) conducted the Camerata for one year after Founding Director Arthur Wenk left Pittsburgh. He is now Emeritus Faculty at Duquesne University, having headed the Musicianship department in the Mary Pappert School of Music for many years. He currently specializes in the theory and analysis of music of contemporary Polish composers, and is a member of the editorial board of the Polish Music Journal (Univ. of Southern California) and editorial board member and contributor to the international journal, “Studies in Penderecki”. Dr. Shankovich is also the founding editor of “Music Theory: Explorations and Applications.” A textbook devoted to 20th-Century Counterpoint is in progress.
