Gayle Clark Kirkwood conducted The Pittsburgh Camerata for 12 years, from the 1986-87 season through the 1997-98 season. She holds Performance degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music, Longy School, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and Yale University. She was one of five recipients of the prestigious AMS-50 Fellowships awarded by the American Musicological Society for outstanding dissertation research. Ms. Kirkwood is now an internationally known breeder of German Shepherds. The Kirkwoods raised, trained and showed dogs for many years, and opened their kennel (Kirchenwald Shepherds) in 1997.
