William Billings' delightful song from "The New England Psalm-Singer" lends the title for the Pittsburgh Camerata's second compact disc. Save for the Billings, all works on this recording are of modern invention, twentieth-century American creations. Several have become classics of the choral literature, while the works by Pittsburgh composers Andrew Kohn and Glenn Rudoph are recorded here for the first time. This disc also includes several contemporary arrangements of traditional American tunes. Their direct expression and honest energy capture yet another hallmark of American choral style.
